Wow! What a great month this has been! I really thought with the economy and all the drab news that my work schedule would have been slowed to a near stall, but the opposite is happening. My recording session work has picked up and I've made a lot of new friernds as well as clients. Worked on some gospel CD projects and songwriter demos. Got to work with
Alan O'Day in the studio, he was the writer/ singer of the
#1 Billboard hit
"Undercover Angel" and co-writer of the
Righteous Brothers "Rock and Roll Heaven. What a pleasure it was to work with this level of talent! I've been to Pulaski, Jackson and Dayton, TN and next month will be in Springfield, TN for a cool concert up there.
Judy Whiting my manager at
Lilac Moon Productions has been getting some great shows together for me and we've just completed a project in the studio for a writer by the name of
Z, what a talent this guy is, he has the gift and the drive to do something. Judy has also just done the finishing touches on my new Saxophone CD project and will be shopping it the Labels soon. I have also been been screening new material to try and pitch and have been talking with a couple of other publishers about their ideas, contacts and what they've got going on. That's where it's at...
NETWORKING! I love it! I just played
Pedal Steel Guitar on a songs from a friend of mine and am thinking about asking him if I might use this song for one of my own up coming projects, it's kind of a Pop/Rock medium ballad and I must say it sounds cool! he has also written some uptempo songs that would be great to have on one my upcoming projects. By the way, thanks to Judy again for all her hard work as she has been the force that has secured much of my work for the past year and a half, she has turned me onto importatnt contacts that I would never have had. She recently advised me on a couple of situations where contarcts were involved and I needed advice quick and was able to come out on top with the deals. I feel confident in what I am doing in the studio and where music is concerned but Judy has the talent for the other side, the business side that most artists need and it's really something I can't do without. I appreciate you Judy for what you do!

Played
Pedal Steel Guitar, Bass Guitar (see picture with blog) &
Dobro on a CD project for
Gordon Gregg, a friend from Germany. His project was based around the Trucker and the life they lead, of course his perspective is European but after listening to his text both in English and in German it's all about the same things, driving, women, etc., what a pleasure it was to work with him in the studio! I worked in Europe for 6 years, fist in Brussels, Belgium, then in Ludwigshaven, Germany, Offenbach by Landau, Germany and finally Berlin, Germany and while in Berlin i played Steel and Dobro with a group by the name of
Western Union Band and in 1983 we were in Germany's top 10 songs for that year. Gordon remembered the song and the group...small world!
Upcoming sessions and live work are really coming in and I'm already booking well into next year. Looking forward to some horn arranging projects and am talking with a couple of clients about producing their projects. I've been producing/writing and working with a songwriter here in Nashville on a concept project and will finishing that in the coming months. Just worked with the
Radio Daze Big Band and
Joe Savage Band and have dates with both of them coming up. Been rehearsing with the
Community Orchestra at the
Renaissance Center in Dickson, TN performing on
Flute.
Again, what a great year this has already been!
