Just uploaded a recent improvisation, further orchestrated by me. Recorded @home, it's a slow waltz, and I chose to illustrated it with two amazing british dancers. Enjoy!

Profile Information

About Me:
Thierry Kauffmann is an indie piano musician with classical training and rock, pop, and hip hop influences. He is a prolific improviser and writer of piano solo pieces, orchestral works, and electronic compositions.

He learned piano at age nine, and went on to the conservatory to study classical music. When he was 16, he started improvising for the first time. He never stopped.

He moved to Indiana in 1987 and made it his home. There he recorded several R&B songs with singer songwriter Sharon Kenny, at Mike Kelsey’s original studio in Lafayette. Playing piano at the local unitarian church, Thierry Kauffmann’s improvisations did not go unnoticed. This led to the recording of piano pieces at Duncan Hall, Lafayette historic artistic venue. In addition to his Sunday duties, Thierry Kauffmann was “pianist extraordinaire” at the Java Roaster two hours per week, during which he improvised freely. He also improvised for modern dance classes and competition, as well as for the Purdue Repertory Dance Company. He was the first artist to join Dennis Leas’ collaborative group known as TranssonicMusic (TSM). TSM produced improvised shows including musicians, dancers, video artists and poets.

His debut CD entitled seven for summer features improvisation based piano pieces, as well as orchestral works utilizing virtual studio instruments.

i sing for my daughter

I'm no singer, but my daughter is far. So I took a mic, and sang for her. Music by me. Words by someone better than me (Peter Cetera). I used to sing in a choir. I might get back to sing more, and why not, better:)
Enjoy!

Home away from home

I just posted a video entitled "Moonlight Serenade", which I shot with my webcam yesterday. I quickly added a simple piano piece, on which I improvised with a saxophone ( I don't play sax, I play a keyboard with a sax sound). I have two homes, france, and the midwest. I hope to return to the midwest soon. Enjoy the video, even though it can be bumpy, since I filmed while walking down a rocky trail.

I am probably one of the most computer illiterate people on here. I have a sampler demo album on my hard drive but, honestly don't know how to put in online for others to listen to it. It consists of some traditiona and contemporaryl country, gospel, jazz, and a song for a movie that Disney has shown interest in.
