Profile Information

About Me:
I was born in the 50s, grew up in the 60s, but still love the 70s. I don't know why people put that decade down like it wasn't as much fun as it was.
Give me 70s music any day compared to the last several years.
I am adopted but have not met any of my biological family. My adoptive family is musical but my biological mother was in the service and sang at the USO. Her name is Barbara Ann Howard from Melrose, NY. My dad who was married at the time of their relationship is James Duncan Tarver ,and I have been told he was from Hattiesburg, Ms. They were both stationed in San Antonio and had an affair. I know I have half brothers and sisters. On my mom's side there is a brother who goes by Gene, Jim, and a sister Marilyn. My biological mother and Uncle Gene both had lived at different times with my adoptive parents which is why I have some information. Who knows. Maybe you are members on here.
My dream was to be a singer. Things stopped before they barely got started. Now that I am able to sing I am old being a baby boomer. I have put three songs on my page that were recorded in my mom's garage using karaoke tapes. The quality isn't all that great but they are the best recordings I have ever made.
I love the beach, animals, thunder storms, plants, movies especially the oldies, Conservative talk radio, classic rock-40's music, riding on our motorcyle, going for long car drives and looking for the "surprise" that comes with it, and a lot inbetween.

Our dream is to retire to Hawaii-Big Island which is why I have put some pictures on here. I want any one who hasn't been there to experience some of what I have. It is a peaceful and laid back island. It doesn't have all the commercialism of the other ones.
Even though I was born in Robstown, Tx I consider Corpus Christi to be my home. If I made it back to Corpus Christi, Tx I'd be happy. I love Padre Island and have so many happy memories of it. I also love to walk along the sea wall in Corpus or watch the sun rise from the T head which is part of a group of piers. There is nothing to compare to Tx B-B-Q and beef brisket. Plus the Mexican food down there is great. It is actually Tex-Mex. Also, my favorite hamburger "Whataburger" is there. You don't realize how good food can be until you move away. Texas shaped me and made me the person that I am. We had great schools that taught love for country and your fellow man. God took what Texas started and then gave me his love and forgiveness.
I am a born again Christian which defines me more than anything else.
I have also lived in FL, VA, SC, and NY.

Your Proudest Moment
The best thing I have ever done was to bring my son Sean into the world. I now have a lovely daughter-in-law Kimberly and two great grandchildren Sarah and Corbin.
One moment in my life which stands out is when I was singing karaoke at a local club with about 150 people in attendance and quieted the whole place down when I sang Super Star. I got up to sing for the first time because it was so loud that I thought no one would pay any attention to me. That at least is what the bouncer told me. So I did. It wasn't but a few words into the song that I started hearing everything go quiet and realized that they were listening to me. I was so thrilled. It was my moment.

Update

My voice is coming back better and better. Now if it will only be better than it was before all the trouble!! I know I was never a good singer but I just enjoy singing. If you can't sing in your car, what's the point of driving.

Also I made my first Vodka Sour from scratch. Yummy. It used to be my favorite cocktail and then I switched to Margaritas. Sours from scratch are a bit of work but really worth the effort. Time to go refill.

Sherilyn, Thanks for posting the photos. I've often thought about moving to England but I know I never will. I don't even like to leave my city so I just think about it and go to different places in my mind by looking at the pictures posted by all you travelers on this site. Thanks again.

Sherilyn, are you o.k.? Why are you playing tag with cars? It's so much more fun and safer to play "keep away".

Just read your great stuff.I am so proud of my membership here,
and also the close ties with THE PEPPERMINT APES. Noticed you
mentioned relearning flute. Did you check out John Heinrich he plays
it beautifully and may be able to give you some pointers. He is also
a member of Cal.

Thanks for the input. I don't have much desire to go back to Hawaii, but the long stretches of empty beach where I can fish the flats anywhere are my place to be.
