It doesn’t take much to realize
All is right with the world
When we stop listening to fear mongers.

A good man is not so hard to find,
It seems
When all you have to do is look
Around the corner where your neighbor
Is helping the old lady across the street
And good things happen in dreams.

Where the paperboy is knocking on doors
Looking for the owner of a gray cat –
The man in front of you on the road,
Pays for your toll that day
In an act of random kindness,

Have you thought about it ever?
Regret so strong you feel?
For all the things we should have done,
And for the broken seal?
The seal was for promises
We made so long ago,
In a time we were all close -
The age before the woe.

Unforeseen were other views,
The kind that want to halt
All good things we agreed to have,
Believed to be our fault.
Our sights were altered - forces bared,
’Til we turned into foe,
After the time we were so close -

Fir Tree
Fir tree proudly stood there so graceful and strong.
His branches were fresh and green, fragrant and long!
They flowed just like arms to hug me as I stood
Staring up at the tip, thinking, “Oh, yes I could!”
I climbed to the top of his tall slender frame.
“He helped me!” I thought, ‘cause his branches just came
Right under each foot, and he whispered my name
As his needles softly brushed my face.

My sister laughed when she read this because she is a vintage scuba diver, having won the Platinum 5000 award a few years ago and a friend of Sir Robert Marx - the one time I tried going under with gear on, in my own swimming pool, I panicked and she still teases me about that. This was a little historical town my coffee house was located in - I took a walk, returned to my store and wrote the following:






It’s a feeling you get when you are in the area
And those images you see from the corner of your eye.
A faint echo of crying beasts in a populated village,
Whose people are covering up for crimes of the past.

Crimes against our friends in nature
Who were not born to serve as our amusement-
