I barely have time to respond to the posts and then it takes me quite awhile to reply to my messages. My apologies. I'll go write to you in a few minutes.

How can so many things happen just in MY lifetime!
from .03 for a postage stamp to .45
from "never heard of television" to TV on a cell phone
From a crank phone on the wall to one in your ear
From spanking a kid to be the boss
From the kids being boss
From all drs and teachers being over 50 to teachers who look
younger than the students.
From a model A and T Fords - all black , and knowing all about a car From as
far away as you could see it, to not being able to find your
car in a parking lot because they all look the same.
From All churches being full on Sunday to 6-10 being a crowd
From bible verses and prayers in school, and Pledge Of Allegiance
every day to being a crime to mention religion.
From Washing clothes on a wash board to laundromats, and
automatics in the kitchen.
From 10 hr workdays 6 -7 days a week for .50 a day to 8 hrs a day,
40 a week, for well, no limits.
From there always being a job to do for any one, to business like
Banks and auto companys going under.
From Long skirts to Minis, blue jeans.. evening gowns to tea shirts.
From black bulky shoes that button up to high heels to sneakers.
From pencil and notebooks to wireless notebooks.
From having one dr in the whole town who doctored 3 generations all
their life, to at least one dr for each ailment, and a thousand in
a town. (In WV they don't all claim English as their main
language.)
From living on the same farm with your parentsa and granparents..
possible in the same house.. to everyone scattered aboutd the
country in fancy houses and apartments .. and the new trend
once again to going to live w/ family,
From self educated Southerners as president of the US to a black president..

We have come a LONG WAY BABY!!

Comment by Pixie Bavle-Nolin on December 15, 2008 at 2:33pm: Jim, that's beautiful. CHRISTmas is now so commercialized and Santa Claused that nobody seems to remember what we are really celebrating.

I've written many CHRISTian songs and poems but the only CHRISTmas poem I've written was actually about Santa, unfortunately I too am guilty of leaving Christ out of CHRISTmas.

Thanks for writing about the truth of why we celebrate CHRISTmas.

BRING GIFTS OF GOLD AND MYRR TO WHERE THE LITTLE CHILD LAY

THE SON OF GOD IN HIS OWN LOVE FROM HIS THRONE HE STEPPED DOWN
TO COME TO EARTH AND BE WITH US HE SET ASIDE HIS CROWN
NO ARMYS GREAT WOULD HE LEAD IN BATTLES FILL WITH BLOOD
SO MANY SOULS WOULD BE SAVED IN HIS CRIMSON FLOOD

THE LORD GATHERED TWELVE TO HIM TO WALK HERE BY HIS SIDE
TO SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD’S OWN SON TO THE WORLD FAR AND WIDE
CROSS OCEANS BLUE AND MOUNTAINS HIGH IN GARDENS THEY DID GO
LEARNING AT THE MASTER’S HANDS THE THINGS THEY SHOULD KNOW

TEACHING PREACHING, HEALING HEARTS. SAVING SOULS EACH DAY
NO OFFENSE WOULD THEY FIND IN HIM, BUT IT WAS HIM THEY ‘D SLAY
THE PHARASEES WOULD NOT BELIEVE THIS MAN FROM GALILEE
WAS THE CHOSEN ONE OF GOD SENT TO SET US FREE

WITH WHIPS OF ROCKS AND BROKEN GLASS THEY CUT THE SKIN FROM HIS BACK
WITH LEGIONS OF ANGLES AT HIS COMAND THE LORD NEVER STRUCK BACK
BLOOD ROLLED DOWN HIS HOLY FACE WHAT TERROR HE DID BARE
THEY TOOK HIM TO GALGATHA’S HILL, A CROSS WAS WAITING THERE

A CROWN OF THORNS THEY PLACED ON HIS HEAD
THEY PEARCED HIS FEET HANDS AND SIDE
WHAT PAIN WHAT HORRORS THE LORD ENDURED
FORGIVE THEM WAS ALL HE CRIED

THE GROUND WAS RED WITH MY SAVIOR’S BLOOD
HE DIED THERE ON THAT TREE, HE TOOK AWAY THE KEYS OF HELL
FROM DEATH HE SET US FREE
THE GRAVE COULD NOT HOLD MY SAVIOR DOWN THE ROCK IT ROLLED AWAY

Comment by Linda Cunningham on March 27, 2008 at 8:39pm: To CAT; You asked how to get back into writing. The way I do itis to try to rewrite something I liked or hated. You hardly ever write the same thing , you usually want to change it. So when you see yourself making changes, then just start a fresh page. Works for me.
