Dear friends,I was spending time this morning thanking God for the many blessings that he has afforded me throughout my life, I was reminded of the last real conversation I had with my dad, J.D. Sr.
The occasion was one of the very last days of my dad’s life. Dad’s, body was racked with cancer. That monster was devouring him one fraction of a lb at a time. He was so frail and so small, in those last days. On this particular day I was trying to cheer dad up when he looked at me and said, “Jim, this is the best day of my life!” I was astounded, what in this world could have possessed dad to make such a statement. I guess he knew my thoughts and explained his statement like this. “Yesterday no matter how good or bad it was, it is only a memory, some memories are sweet, some bitter and some bitter-sweet, a memory never the less. I can only remember yesterday I can’t change anything about it. I can plan for tomorrow and hope that I see it but there is no assurance that I will. So what do I have?
I HAVE TODAY, and in the moment of the day my son I can dream, I can love and I can, accomplish many things. If I have wronged any man I have time to apologize and if possible make amends. I will not waste this day for it is the stuff life is made of.
We have life today, what more can we ask?
Enjoy this moment and this Day.
TODAY IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE--- AND YOURS.”

And what a joy it is, to share this fact and this day with my friends!

NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE!

LOVE IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL!

A Boy Singing to his little sister.....

You are My Sunshine, My only Sunshine'
(Be prepared to get watery eyes!)

Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the
way, she did what she could to help her 3-year-old son, Michael, prepare
for a new sibling.

They found out that the new baby was going be a girl, and day after day,
night after night, Michael sang to his sister in mommy's tummy.

He was building a bond of love with his little sister before he even met her.
The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen, an active member of the
Panther Creek United Methodist Church in Morristown , Tennessee.

In time, the labor pains came. Soon it was every five minutes, every
three, every minute. But serious complications arose during delivery and
Karen found herself in hours of labor.

Would a C-section be required? Finally, after a long struggle, Michael's
little sister was born. But she was in very serious condition.

With a siren howling in the night, the ambulance rushed the infant to
the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville,
Tennessee. The days inched by. The little girl got worse. The
pediatrician had to tell the parents there is very little hope. Be
prepared for the worst.

Karen and her husband contacted a local cemetery about a burial plot.
They had fixed up a special room in their house for their new baby but
now they found themselves having to plan for a funeral. Michael,
however, kept begging his parents to let him see his sister. I want to
sing to her, he kept saying.

Week two in intensive care looked as if a funeral would come before the
week was over. Michael kept nagging about singing to his sister, but kids are never allowed in Intensive Care. Karen decided to take Michael whether they
liked it or not.

If he didn't see his sister right then, he may never see her alive.
She dressed him in an oversized scrub suit and marched him into ICU.
He looked like a walking laundry basket.

The head nurse recognized him as a child and bellowed,
'Get that kid out of here now. No children are allowed.'
The mother rose up strong in Karen,
and the usually mild-mannered lady glared steel-eyed right into
the head nurse's face, her lips a firm line.
'He is not leaving until he sings to his sister' she stated.

Then Karen towed Michael to his sister's bedside.

He gazed at the tiny infant losing the battle to live.

After a moment, he began to sing.

In the pure-hearted voice of a 3-year-old, Michael sang:

'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
you make me happy when skies are gray.'
Instantly the baby girl seemed to respond.
The pulse rate began to calm down and become steady.

'Keep on singing, Michael,' encouraged Karen with tears in her eyes.

'You never know, dear, how much I love you,
please don't take my sunshine away.'
As Michael sang to his sister, the baby's ragged,

strained breathing became as smooth as a kitten's purr
'Keep on singing, sweetheart.'

'The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms'
Michael's little sister began to relax as rest,
healing rest, seemed to sweep over her.

'Keep on singing, Michael.'
Tears had now conquered the face of the bossy head nurse.
Karen glowed.

'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
Please don't take my sunshine away.'

The next day...the very next day.
the little girl was well enough to go home

Woman's Day Magazine called it The Miracle of a Brother's Song.

The medical staff just called it a miracle.

Karen called it a miracle of God's love.

NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE.

LOVE IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL.

Life is good.

Have a Wonderful Day!

In God We Trust!

'The evidence of God's presence far outweighs the proof of His absence.'

Thought you might like this.
Please watch the following video clip -- it is a story of Johnny, the grocery store bagger.
It is very short, but it will remind you of why and how we make an impact in what we do.
You may even want to share it with others, and I hope you will.
It's amazing how one young Down's Syndrome bagger made such a wonderful impact on those customers lucky enough to have Johnny bag their groceries!

Gear, I have always liked that story. It really is positive. Too bad not everyone can be that positive. Thanks for posting.

YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

'I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

'Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied..

' Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. 'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank.
I am still depositing.' Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
