John, I agree that it tells a story. I was just thinking that the other day.

Most music talks about hurt, betrayal and stuff but there's no story behind it. If there is, I've never really caught it but in country music, one can hear what lead up to the point of the song and then what's happening now.

I told someone that if I want to hear a song that speaks to me then it's going to be country.

I said I would add more as they came to me, there is Charlie Pride, Does my ring hurt your finger, a little rememberd song by him was Burgers and Fries.
Then there is Dolly Parton, My coat of many colors, I will always love you, and many more.
For a woman that one person said would never make it, she did very well.
Tim McGraw, a number of great songs.
And of course there was Ray Charles who did some country music, and it sounded like he had always been country.
Remember his rendition of Georgia, or I can`t stop lovin you?
Then there is George Strait who did All my exes live in texas, and many more.
The Bellamy Bros.
There were so many with wounderful songs.
The thing I love about Country Music is , it speaks of life and you can actually understand the words, and always evolveing

Pixie, no you have never heard me sing the Dance, since I added that song awhile back after Glenn learned to play it.
I also gave him the sheet music for Friends in Low Places, but he has never learned the song.
I like to try and expand my reach in music and give the audience something different sometimes.
Still remember singing harmony with your guitarist at My Maria.
It was great and a lot of fun.
Hope you get back to giging soon.
Thanks for the compliment on my voice, it is a great part of my life, though I know I am now to old to even think of a professional career in music.
I love the feeling of where the music takes me, even if I am not performig before a large audiance.
Be well, and yes I know of the hard work of setting up and tearing down befor and after a gig.
Love you, and my best to you.

John, I don't think I ever heard you sing The Dance. That should be good.

No, you don't have a country style. It's more of a Dennis what's his name style. You know, the tenor on Jack Benny.

Your voice is great no matter what you sing. I don't think I've ever heard you hit a sour note.

I grew up with country music since my mother used to listen to the Grand Ole Opry when I was just a little guy.
I loved Roy Acuff and as time went on, there were many more great country artists, such as Bob Wills.
Johnny Cash, Kitty Wells, Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, who incendently did a song about ten years ago that could have been talking about his life, it was called Choices.
I have that CD, I bought it in Nashville while visiti g my son and daughter in law and grandchildren.
Of course one of the songs he will be rembered for is, He Stopped Lovin Her Today.
I miss hearing and seeing Garth Brooks performing, one his songs I love and sing at an open mike piano bar is The Dance.
These are just a few I will add more as time goes by.
The funny thing is I do not have the voice for country as I have been classified as a crooner, but I still love the music.

Up unti recently I didn't like country music at all but after hearing Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" I decided to give it another try.

Now I like so many country songs that I can't even name them. My radio station in the car is set to Country, Smooth Jazz, Oldies, CHRISTian and R&B.

I think it's the style that caused my distaste for it. I'm not a fan of Hank Williams (What? Slap my face. How dare I say that in a group like this) but I just think it was a little too country or western for me.

I love "The Dance" and I've found a whole lot of songs by Diamond Rio that are fantastic and I like Trisha Yearwood's "Here Comes Temptation"

There's a whole lot more and when I get a second, I'll post some of my favorites.
I'm surprised at how much I actually do like the music
