Why I Don't Do Concerts

I'd love to do concerts. I did one last year. Sold out. People seemed to really enjoy themselves. I've got 2 CD's out. Lot's of variety. I'm not afraid of a crowd. But I have severe adult ADHD. That's a serious problem when trying to perform. Lyrics just vanish. It's why I don't perform. People ask me to, but the problem seems impossible to overcome. Just sharing. Was wondering about some feedback. If I had the lyrics out there somewhere where I could maintain audience contact, i.e. not looking at a piece of paper, I could perform. HELP!

What I mean is, I have a song book and I print out the first 2 or 3 words of each verse larger than the rest of the lyrics so that I can just do a downward glance that the audience never notices. Those few words will jog my memory if I get distracted.

Another thought would be to use a laptop. I don't think the audience would know whether you were controlling the sound, twittering, reading words or doing some other thing that required electronics. Just a thought.; ▶ Reply to This
