Playing What We Feel, Feeling What We Play

Has anyone thought of the potential of this group to collaberate on puting together some really great music?
While working together personally is always good, a long distance collaberation could also work.
Song writers, musicians and singers could provide their input.
With the web beeing what it is today, words, music, etc. could be shared and posibly brought together in some awsome music.
Just a thought I have had for awhile.
Why not share your thoughts on this?

John, You're reading my mind. I was thinking about the same thing just the other day. I was trying to figure out how to do a CD with one of everyone's song's on it.

Actually, it might have to be a set because we have lots and lots of great talent here.

Thanks for suggesting it. Maybe someone can help us figure out how to get this accomplished.

John, I talked to Judy yesterday and she said she was thinking the same thing on the same day that you and I were. We'll all have to figure out how to do this. I'll keep you posted.

With musicians being musicians (we all have egos) I was thinking maybe a tribute CD would be a possibility. Anything from Willie Nelson to Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones. The group or artist isn't really important. What it does is eliminate the 'why not my song' issue out of the equation.

It then boils down to what is the best/most original version of (Pick the favored artist's song). It also makes a collaboration easier because it brings it down to arrangement and execution.

Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

here is my reply: It is possible to do a double cd with selected songs by our members. Everyone knows
that we have so much talent here, and so much room to record a compilation cd, of which I have done
many times here in Nashville. One cd can hold up to 20 songs per 3.28 minutes per song. so a double
would be 40 songs. As we have so much talent and to show the variety of music it should be a mixed
genre of music. I do not think this will offend any of our members. Actually we would be starting a
SERIES of Music, which really describes our Talented members. I have discussed with Pixie some of the
process on this subject. and it is really exciting!

My best to all of you

I like your idea Judy. Fourty songs gives a lot more people an oppertunity to be on the CD plus it would make it a bargin on a per song basis.

Is the K-Tel name available ---- LOL (The devil made me type that)

Linda, what does that mean? I couldn't find any previous post where that would fit as a response. What did I miss?

Tony, I'm not sure how we would go about this but Judy Whiting and I have discussed this subject. First we have to figure out how to choose the artists and songs without hurting any feelings here and then I think we'll be doing originals from the members on this site.

This is all just thoughts as yet and nothing has been put into action. I think right now we have all got other things that are crowding our brains. This is an idea that may take awhile to get to the forefront of our other crowded thoughts but we'll keep you posted.

I'm in on this. How about a medley of songs by different artists placed on a c.d.? It's great exposure!

I've been checking in to this and just financially speaking, it would cost a whole lot of money to record, design, engineer and package and it looks like that would fall on me so it doesn't look like this will work. Great idea though.

Pixie, You should look into Bandbox. It's an online service that is affordable (Free).

As far as the production work. There are people on here that have well produced songs already. There could be an issue of dynamic range but that can be dealt with. A lot of people are going to -6db dynamic range area but I try to keep mine to -10 to -12db. But I have pumped songs up to -6db before (actually -3db for one project). I just prefere a bit more dynamics with my own music generally. But I wouldn't find a tall building to jump from if I had to go from -12db to -6db.

Every problem has a solution.
