California Agent wanted.

I and my band are looking for an agent here in CA. It seems that all the restaurants and lounges that would appreciate our music, have closed down and those that are still open are Hip Hop, Country, DJ or Karaoke so although I used to be quite good at getting gigs, I've run out of places.

If there's anyone here who could book us gigs in the US. and preferably CA, please contact me. Thanks.....Pixie

Hi there pixie,

I know a long time ago I had to pick between joining the Musicians Union as opposed to the California Musicians Associated Artist and both have their guidelines. While being a Union member has great advantages, most clubs can't afford the legalities/ workman's comp' or even the higher pay scale. You would do greater being your own indie act while being associated with a California Musician Association. I.e.- up here where I live is the Northwest Cascade Blues Society..., they themselves would know who you could trust as a good agent, as they deal with good agents all over the US in their bigger gigs. Thanks MB. I'll check into that. I know that Karaoke has cut down the musicians union by 2/3 out here. Ca. is just so wrong on so many levels.
